This is an Excel Analysis of the Brazilian Smartphone market which declined 6% YoY in 2022 as it grappled with political tension, high inflation that led to a delay smartphone replacement and as consumers prioritized the purchase of TVs to watch the FIFA World Cup. Samsung dominated this market with its share increasing to 52%. It was very aggressive in pricing the M series. Motorola’s shipment decline to 15% YoY resulted in its market share dropping from 30% in 2021 to 27% in 2022. The brand increased the availability of entry-level models towards the year-end to counter this. Xiaomi’s market share increased to 6% while its shipment grew 30%YoY. Apple remained the 4th biggest player in the market as its share increased slightly to 4.2%, driven primarily by iPhone 11, Apple's top selling model in the country. The beginning of local assembly of iPhone 12 also contributed to this growth.
