Overview:
The India smartphone market grew 10% YoY in August 2020 driven by ongoing pent-up demand and massive promotions. Online channels also grew 11% YoY, having almost a stable share as compared to August last year. Xiaomi remained the top online brand. However, Samsung captured the second spot from realme. Amazon regained the top spot in the online channels driven by Xiaomi, Samsung and OnePlus models.
Offline channel smartphone shipments grew 9% YoY to record highest shipments in a month since October last year, making August 2020 as the top performing non-Diwali month. Vivo, Samsung and Oppo drove the shipments for offline channels with new launches in the budget segment.
