Overview:
The India smartphone market declined by 17% YoY in March 2020 as the government initiated a country-wide lockdown in the last week of the month due to COVID-19 pandemic. Online channel shipments declined 12% YoY and decline 6% MoM in March 2020. Xiaomi took 45% share followed by realme which took 17% share. Flipkart remained the number one online platform despite decline of 17% MoM In March. Amazon closed the gap on Flipkart with 11% growth at the same time.
Offline shipments declined 20% YoY in Mar 2020 as brands shipped models on online platforms amidst online sales and the COVID-19 pandemic. Vivo is leading offline shipments with 27% share in Mar 2020 driven by launch of Y91i new variant which became the top model on offline channels.
