"Samsung Electronics Co. has announced tieing up with Audi AG to supply automotive processors designed for in-vehicle infotainment systems. Samsung’s Exynos Auto V9 Chip will manage not only in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) solutions for Audi cars, but will also provide drivers with details on the vehicle's performance on a real-time basis. The Exynos Auto V9 enables IVI solution to control six displays simultaneously and supports up to 12 cameras. In addition, three graphics processing units make it capable of running multiple applications simultaneously. Neural processing units will also, promptly and accurately, process drivers' voice, face and movements to provide optimized information.
The announcement highlights Samsung’s growing ambitions to stay at the forefront of the automotive infotainment market and diversify its chips business, as revenue from its mobile phones drops. Two years earlier, Samsung had also acquired Harman International Industries, a U.S.-based automotive-technology manufacturer, for $8 billion." – Vinay Piparsania
